Ramon Silva (pictured) is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, video installation, painting, performance art and sound. He has recently launched an apparel line called EsoBrand and will host a Brooklyn celebration at The Free Marketplace on Sunday, June 30th with live music, free activities for children and a screenprinting workshop.

This month is gearing up to be one of our most exciting markets yet.  It is our last indoor event as we will be heading to a new outdoor location for the summer season (to be announced very soon!)
Everyone knows that the coolest kids on the planet live in Brooklyn and they will be strutting their stuff down the Free Marketplace runway in a summer fashion show presented by Gbekembe and featuring gear from Presentable Children, Jojo Shoes, Dja, Lil Ego+ more!We are excited to welcome FunikiJam Music for an afternoon children’s music workshop and jam session. FunikiJam produces  “music exploration for the next generation” designed to build global community through smart, fun, interactive programs via original songs, stories, chants, and rhymes.

BIG Jamaica App BK Launch + Little Rockers @ The Free Marketplace: 3.24.13

This month at the Free Marketplace (Sunday, 3/24), we have a super exciting line up including the Brooklyn launch party for BIG magazine’s Jamaica App, DJ Queen Majesty from Deadly Dragon, a performance by Brooklyn youth rockers, Unlocking the Truth, and of course even more creative workshops for adults and kids, and incredibly cool stuff from our vendors!

With their new JAMAICA app, Big magazine aims to capture the unique voice, vibe and feeling of Jamaica, a country Big describes “as one of the most glamorous and culturally propulsive islands in the Caribbean from its incomparable musical and cultural legacies to its iconic landscapes to its globally ranked athletes, Jamaica is not only peerless, it is universally symbolic.”

The Big Jamaica App will offer a mosaic of Jamaican sports, lifestyle, landscape and fashion.
